What age should you wear false eyelashes? There is no minimum age. Popular television shows like Toddlers and Tiaras on TLC have promoted young toddlers stepping on stage with a face full of makeup and fake eyelashes.

Social media is driving the need for younger girls wanting to wear makeup and desire to look pretty. Society is gradually becoming more accepting of young girls acting older than their age by wearing makeup. Girls between the ages of 11-15 are wearing makeup and fake eyelashes to school.

They are buying fake eyelashes, receiving eyelash extensions, and wearing faces full of makeup, and there is no minimum age limit except for some salons requiring that minors be 16 years and older for lash extensions with parental consent.

Nowadays it is even common for middle school kids to buy and wear makeup and fake eyelashes. Ultimately, it is up to the parent and what they feel comfortable with their child wearing.

What Age Can You Wear False Eyelashes?

There is no concrete age to when someone can wear false eyelashes. False eyelashes are relatively safe as long as they are applied in a sanitary manner. Proper hygiene is key.

False eyelashes seem to be widely accepted for special occasions like pageants, dances, and school pictures. Some even choose to wear them on a daily basis.

However, to many parents, wearing false eyelashes daily might seem too pretentious. Kids these days are growing up too quickly for their age and fake eyelashes are accelerating the notion of 13 going on 30.

A study by Mintel, a market intelligence agency, revealed that 80% of 9-11 years olds in the United States use a beauty product, and more than 50% of 12-14 year olds wear mascara, eyeliner, and foundation.

Can An 11 Year Old Wear Fake Eyelashes?

An 11 year old can wear fake eyelashes since they are safe to apply, but the decision should be left to the parent and how comfortable they are. Mascara might be more practical since it is easier to apply and not as dramatic as fake eyelashes.

Can A 12 Year Old Get a Lash Lift?

A 12 year old can get a lash lift depending on the salon’s own rules and standards. Usually, anyone under 18 must have a written and signed consent from her parent or legal guardian in order to receive a lash lift.

Lash lift uses chemicals to semi-permanently curl the natural lashes, and although they are safe, they can still pose potential allergic reactions. Parents should be aware of potential allergies with their children before allowing lash lifts.

Can A 13 Year Old Get Eyelash Extensions?

A 13 year old can get eyelash extensions similar to getting a lash lift: it depends on the salon’s rules and whether the parent provides consent.

There is no legal age limit to who can receive lash extensions. Lash extensions are an expensive and timely service that parents have to budget and decide if this is a feasible service for their teenage daughter.

Websites like Yelp.com are a good place to find reliable recommendations for reputable salons near you that might offer eyelash extensions or other services to 13 year olds.

Can A 13 Year Old Wear Makeup?

There is no legal age limit to wearing makeup. Girls these days are wearing small amounts of makeup in middle school, including concealer or light foundation to hide pimples or a bright fun eyeshadow to accentuate the eyes.

Makeup can be a form of self-expression and can be appropriate for young girls. However, wearing a full face of makeup to look older on purpose might be considered inappropriate for some parents and schools. Makeup in the right amount though can give young girls confidence.

Can A 14 Year Old Wear Fake Eyelashes?

A 14 year old can wear fake eyelashes especially since as teenagers they are becoming more curious about their looks and presence. It is easier for 14 year olds to obtain strip fake lashes than lash extensions because of cost, parental consent, and salon rules.

Although many young girls are wanting fake eyelashes, studies have shown that most parents would not allow their children to wear false lashes because they believe fake eyelashes are not an age-appropriate accessory for 14 year olds.

Can A 15 year Old Get Eyelash Extensions?

There are no specific mandated laws in the United States when it comes to cosmetic procedures and surgery, but most patients under 18 years have to have parental consent. Salon owners have the legal right to define their minor policy.

Some insurance companies also have their own age restrictions. Accepting minors under 15 years of age is a moral and social responsibility of salon owners, as well as the parents. Some salons will only accept clients 16 and older.

Can You Wear Fake Eyelashes To Middle School?

Wearing fake eyelashes to middle school boils down to a parent’s preference and comfort levels. Girls are wearing fake eyelashes and makeup in schools.

Some use cheap fake eyelash strips from the drugstore while some actually receive fake eyelash extensions from a salon. Children are inspired and encouraged by social media to wear the latest trends and to fit in.

Some might even feel pressured to look pretty by wearing fake eyelashes. Some school policies have strict dress codes though that won’t permit a lot of makeup or fake eyelashes.

How Old Do You Need To Be To Buy Fake Eyelashes?

Anyone can go to a drugstore and buy fake eyelashes. There is no minimum or maximum age limit. However, to get eyelash extensions, some salons have a minor policy and require that minors be at least 16 years old with parental consent in order to receive eyelash extensions.

Buying fake eyelashes comes along with the responsibility of how to properly take care of them too in order to preserve eye health. Considering the chemicals in eyelash extension glue and whether it will cause any allergic reactions is also important.

Another general rule is if someone is old enough to pay for fake eyelashes, then they are old enough to wear them. Some parents will be fine with their children wearing fake eyelashes at a younger age than others. Just remember that fake lashes should be worn for the right reasons and not just because it is cool or popular.

Final Thoughts: What Age Should You Wear False Eyelashes?

While there are no specific laws in the United States that prevent teenagers from getting cosmetic procedures, some school uniform policies and eyelash extension salons ban fake eyelashes for minors under 16 years even with parental consent.

It is normal and healthy for a young girl between the ages of 11-15 to want to experiment with makeup and fake eyelashes; however, it is up to the parents to determine whether they are comfortable having their children wear them.

Although it is common for young girls to wear makeup in middle school and wear fake eyelash strips for special occasions, wearing fake eyelashes every day or getting eyelash extensions might be inappropriate. Kids still need the chance to act like kids!
